Yet another addition to the plethora of ‘heavy yet melodic’ rock bands that emerged in the early twenty-first century, the Atlanta, Georgia, USA-based trio, Injected, was formed by Danny Grady (vocals, guitar), Steve Slovisky (bass), and Chris Wojtal (drums).
All three members had played together intermittently in local bands ever since leaving school. With pop punk bands all the rage at the time of Injected’s formation during the late 90s, leader Grady decided to make a conscious effort to pen songs that were more song-orientated like the Beatles and Nirvana, while also containing the riff power of bands such as Soundgarden. Adding second guitarist Jade Lemons to the line-up, Injected spent the next few years building a local following, before being snapped up by Island Records. The quartet recorded tracks for their subsequent debut recording at the renowned Bearsville Studios in the secluded area of the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York, with producer Butch Walker at the helm. Burn It Black was released in 2002.
