A long, long time ago in a galaxy far away…
Well, back in Scotland to be more precise! Wily Bo Walker's first band of note was from Glasgow and called ‘The Heartbeats’. (Not to be confused with the American band of the fifties with the same name!)

Wily Bo Walker had put together a demo of some songs that he recorded with musicians he met while gigging in London. That demo garnered interest from the likes of WEA (Ireland) and other labels so Wily Bo went back to Glasgow and put together a band to take the songs out on the road.

Anyway, The Heartbeats were a local ‘super band’ in a way, enlisting the help of musicians from all the up and coming bands in Scotland at that time - Bourgie Bourgie, The Kissing Bandits, Lloyd Cole & The Commotions, Wet Wet Wet, The Big Dish, The Primevals etc

The Heartbeats were primarily a party band and geared for fun (in the style of the garage band super-rock fun of bands like ‘The Fleshtones’).

They disbanded after a few successful independent single releases but before their album was released.

Wily Bo Walker and 'Flaming Hearts Records' have recently released the forgotten album ‘Stand Up and Face It…’ as well as this more recent compilation ‘Super Party Shakedown’.

The party don’t stop, won’t stop, never ever ever stop…
