Led by former Bad Cash Quartet singer Martin Elisson, Hästpojken is a Swedish indie pop band that made its debut with the hit album Caligula in 2008.
Founded in 2007 in Gothenburg, Sweden, the band is comprised of Elisson (vocals), Adam Bolméus (guitar), Oscar Wallblom (bass), Pontus Tengren (percussion, synthesizer), Nico Janco (drums), and Matti Ollikainen (piano). Elisson rose to fame as the frontman of the Gothenburg band the Bad Cash Quartet, which scored a couple Top Ten hit albums early in the decade with Outcast (2001) and Midnight Prayer (2003). After the Bad Cash Quartet ran its course, Elisson founded Hästpojken with longtime Broder Daniel drummer Lars Malmros among others. Released in 2008 on Roxy Recordings, the band's full-length debut, Caligula, was a promising start. It reached number 15 on the Swedish albums chart and spawned a few singles, "Shane MacGowan," "Caligula," and "Här Har du Ditt Liv." The second Hästpojken album, Från Där Jag Ropar (2009), was a Top Ten hit. It features the single "Gitarrer & Bas, Trummor & Hat." ~ Jason Birchmeier
