The British ambient techno collective Hal made headlines in 1997 when they teamed with "X-Files" star Gillian Anderson to record the single "Extremis." The project originated with the BBC documentary series "Future Fantastic", hosted by Anderson and featuring theme music by Hal (Raheen, Savage and Px, respectively).
In time, the actress became so enamoured of the group's music that she agreed to collaborate with them on a one-off single, lending vocals and starring in the video for the track "Extremis." The song also appeared on Future--A Journey Through the Electronic Underground, a collection of techno, ambient, and drum'n'bass tracks hand-picked by Anderson herself. ~ Jason Ankeny
