She was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya and has also lived in Londonand Atlanta. She is a musician, performer, and Actress. Habidas diverseexposure has influenced her style of music and has a distinctive Afro-pop feelwith her inspiration of Neo soul and jazz coming through.Habida has a strong passion for acting that encouraged herto achieve a BA in Performing Arts/Musical Theatre from the University ofKennesaw in Atlanta Ga.

A6-song demo in the spring of 2003, met with some good airplay in the USA.She then went on torecord several tracks with a number of production houses looking for the rightdeal, wrote and stared in a soap opera as a lead role as well as worked inseveral TV shows as an extra. She kept up her modeling career as a source ofincome as well.

In2007 Habida returned to Nairobi and released a number of singles, and nowfocuses on her music career.

Inthe first year of her moving home, her first hit single ‘Sunshine’ which iscollaboration with the Kenyan artist Nameless, won the Listeners Choice Awardsin 2009 at the MTV Africa Music Awards. Following on from the instant successHabida was then nominated for 3 other Awards in 2010 at the East African CHATAwards, for Best Female Artist, Best Video and Best New Artist, where she tookhome the Best Video Award. In March 2011 Habida was also nominated as best newartist of the month on MTV.
