An active and well-regarded slam poet as well as a rapper, George Watsky is from San Francisco, California.
By the mid-2000s, he had won several slam competitions, including the 2006 Brave New Voices National Poetry Slam. In 2007, while in his first year of attending Boston's Emerson College, he performed on Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry. Watsky has released a handful of mixtapes, including the mashup-filled free download Guilty Pleasures, as well as the albums Invisible Watsky (2009) and Cardboard Castles (2013). The latter release featured a guest appearance from Kate Nash and prompted an extensive U.S. tour. ~ Andy Kellman
