Grooving In Green is a UK based gothic rock band.
Formed in 2008, theline-up now consists of Tron, Pete Finnemore, Switchblade Switch and SimonRippin.
Grooving in Green formed in 2008 when guitarists Pete Finnemore invitedSimon Manning to join him in writing music together for the first time in over14 years. As a nod to the bands origins and inspirations they once again tooktheir name from a March Violets song. Later that year Tron joined on vocalscompleting the lineup.
In early 2009 the band set to writing their debut EP ‘Ascent’ which wasdescribed as “Obvious Quality” (Mick Mercer) and proved to be a hit oncompilations and in clubs and later that year released their second EP 'Dirt'.
In 2010 the band recorded and released their debut album 'Post TraumaticStress' produced by Stephen Carey (Eden House), mastered by Andy Jackson (PinkFloyd engineer) and featuring a guest contribution from Tony Pettit (Fields ofthe Nephilim). Mick Mercer described it as “A cool collection, with plenty ofmusically combustible uppity carousing you can’t fail to enjoy”. The album wasplaced at number 15 of Dominion Magazines Top 20 albums of 2010 and was placedin several Top 20′s of 2010.
In 2012 the band recorded their second album Stranglehold with StephenCarey with Andy Jackson once again handling mastering duties. It was releasedby AF Music with positive reviews across the board: Mick Mercer said “‘PostTraumatic Stress’ was an excellent debut album. This is even better.”
Billyphobia.com said “Extremely infectious underground music made ofenergy-giving and harsh sounds that focuses on straightforward forcefulness togroove in goth” and Graveconcernsezine.com said “This record is thecookie-cutter example of a great, and grooving goth rock album.” The albumtopped the European Alternative Charts for two weeks consecutively. In late2012 Simon Manning left the group.
In 2013 Joffie Lovett temporarily joined the line up prior to the bandgoing on temporary hiatus for the remainder of the year.
In 2014 bassist Switchblade Switch & drummer Thomas T Cat (TheMarionettes) joined the lineup with Joffie Lovett departing.
In 2015 the band released their debut music video for 'The Ninth Circle' topromote their EP 'Rebirth'. Sadly in 2015 former members Simon Manning andThomas T Cat both passed away.
Later in 2015 the band made their live return at the Sacrosanct festivalwith Simon Rippin (Red Sun Revival /Eden House/ Fields of the Nephilim / NFD)joining on drums and Stephen Carey providing guest live guitars.
In 2016 the line up solidified to be thatof Tron on vocals, Pete on guitars, Switch on bass and Simon Rippin on drums.The band played their first gig in Death Disco in Athens as well as in Club 52in Belgium. They also performed in Germany's Gothic Castle 3.
In 2017 the band has continued to playdates within the UK including an appearance at Whitby to headline the AbsintheMusic Festival alongside Utah Saints. The band also made its first trip toPoland to play multiple dates with bands including Theatre of Hate, JordanRayne and Dance on Glass.
Throughout the years the band has played festivals such as Austria'sJudgement Day & Emergency Exit, Finland's Lumous Gothic Festival, Norway'sHelldorado and the UK's DV8Fest, Sacrosanct and Whitby Goth Weekend.
The band has played dates in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany,Greece, Norway, Spain and Sweden as well as throughout the UK.
They have shared the stage with various bands over the year including: Clanof Xymox, The Eden House, House of Usher, The March Violets, O Children,Ulterior and Andi Sex Gang as well as with special guest contributions fromRosie Lugosi of the March Violets and Stephen Carey of the Eden House.
Currently the band is finishing offrecording and producing their 3rd album with Simon Rippin tenatively titled"A Second Chance..." and have been debuting many of these songs livethroughout 2017.
