Goldcure's uplifting brand of alternative pop/rock takes influence from the Verve, U2, and the accessible side of Radiohead.
While the band's full lineup didn't coalesce until 2006, founding members Adam Buhrman and Craig Haskell first met in 2002. The musicians began playing shows in South Florida the following year, adopting the temporary name Lillyock Timber while securing residencies at several local bars. A full-length album, Don't Apologize, followed in 2004, and the duo soon turned into a three-piece band with the arrival of drummer Gavin Inverso in 2005. As their profile increased, the bandmates opted to leave Florida and resettle in Austin, TX, where they changed the group's name to Goldcure and continued playing local gigs to swelling audiences. Bassist John Allison climbed aboard in 2007, and the quartet partnered with producer/manager Stephen Doster for the recording of 2008's Portuguese Prince. ~ Andrew Leahey
