Now available in metal, Godiva is the sweet, soft, and creamy name chosen by a Swiss power metal band whose eponymous 2003 debut featured vocalist Anthony De Angelis, guitarist Sammy Lasagni, bassist Mitch Koontz, and drummer Peter Ganderounded.
Released into an extremely crowded Euro-metal field, the album offered little in the way of true innovation, but still fared better than most of the competition's speed metal-reliant efforts by borrowing from older, classic sources such as Judas Priest and Accept. So did its 2005 follow-up, Call Me Under 666, which announced personnel changes like De Angelis being supplanted by new singer Fernando Garcia and the addition of second guitarist Moses B. Fernandez. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
