Argentinean pop/rock band GIT was formed in the early-'80s by ex-Banana Pablo Guyot, Willy Iturri, and former los Gatos Alfredo Toth.
The decision to become an independent act came after playing along with Raúl Porchetto in 1980. During the following years, Iturri worked with Charly García, Guyot joined Miguel Mateos, and Toth played with singer/songwriter Piero. In 1984, Charly García produced GIT's debut album, followed by a second record in 1985. The record was presented live at the Chateau Rock Festival and they soon started a South American tour. To promote 1988's Primera Sangre, the group started touring all over Argentina. In 1992, well-known local musicians were invited to participate in a new GIT record, including Nito Mestre of Sui Generis. The result was Distorsión, released that same year. ~ Drago Bonacich
