An actress known for her roles in such films as Bound and Showgirls, Gina Gershon is also a singer/songwriter with a longtime connection to musical performance.
Born in Los Angeles, CA, in 1962, Gershon acted from a young age and ultimately attended both Emerson College in Boston and later N.Y.U. Although she technically studied philosophy and psychology, Gershon immersed herself in the theater scene and eventually began landing film and stage roles. Prior to her recording career, Gershon appeared in a 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret. Consequently, she nabbed a role in the 2003 film Prey for Rock & Roll about a fictional all-female rock band. Gershon had to play guitar and sing for the film and even toured with the rock band Girls Against Boys to promote the project. The tour was also the subject of the 2004 IFC documentary series Rocked. Subsequently, Gershon continued to play and perform music and in 2007 released her cabaret- and indie rock-influenced debut album, In Search of Cleo. ~ Matt Collar
