Highly regarded as one of the finest guitarists in the UK, receiving several local and nationwide awards, Merseyside's Gary Murphy's guitar playing has a very unique and diverse style, on both the electric and acoustic guitar.
Performing from an early age, Gary has performed around the UK and Europe and has successfully toured Belgium many times over, headlining several festivals. Gary has produced several albums of original material, including the award winning 'Here Comes the Rain'. Gary's latest release was called 'Instrumental - Two' (released in November 2012) which is a collection of original guitar instrumentals featuring various different styles of guitar playing - all written and produced by Gary.

Gary's live performances offer a diverse style of guitar classics and original material, on both electric and acoustic guitar, featuring blues, rock and pop and country picking styles.

Gary’s latest theatre production is called ‘Guitar Legends’ which stages the history of the guitar from the 1920s to present date, showcasing the pioneering guitarists in music history and featuring various guitar styles from jazz, blues, country and rock.. The show has had rave reviews and has returned to theatres several times, including its first appearance in Liverpool at The Philharmonic Hall in 2008.

Gary has also been the musical director for several theatre shows across the north-west. In 2005 Gary and his close friend Paul Brooks had huge success performing their stage show of Jeff Wayne's 'War of the worlds' and wowed a sell-out audience at The Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton.

Gary has been the musical director for several high profile events including Radio Merseyside’s MerseyBeats and 40 Years of Music and Laughter shows, and the Rhys Jones tribute concert at the Liverpool Echo Arena in 2008.

Gary and his multi-talented band have performed alongside the likes of Ian McNabb, Pete Wylie, Albert Lee, The Christians, The Mersey Beats, Up and Running, Atomic Kitten, Gerry Marsden, The Searchers and The Swinging Blue Jeans and James Burton. They have also performed at Liverpool's Mathew Street Festival in recent years, performing their tribute shows to Dire Straits, Gary Moore and The Eagles.

As an ambassador for the International Guitar Festival of Great Britain Gary has performed on BBC Television alongside Focus' guitarist Jan Ackerman and country-picking legend Albert Lee.
