Their first 3 self-released singles were championed by such tastemakers as Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy, Tom Robinson, Mary Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravenscroft, Rich Walters and Goldierocks after clocking up 4 Hype Machine #1′s as well as featuring on The Hype Machine radio show.
The success of these self-released singles and their growing live reputation lead to invitations to play tour dates with Babyshambles, Graham Coxon and We Are Scientists as well as several festivals and headline slots at many prestigious venues across the UK and Europe.

In 2013 the band mobilised their rapidly growing fan-base by running a ‘donate’ campaign via their website and newsletter subscribers. They raised enough money to record their debut album ‘How To Make Time’ which they released themselves. Sadly, in 2014 Gaoler’s Daughter announced their split on the same day (April 1st) that they released their second album ‘Split Like Cells’.
