Comprising Don Brewer (b.
3 September 1948, Flint, Michigan, USA; vocals/drums), Billy Elsworthy (guitar), Mel Schacher (b. 3 April 1951, Owosso, Michigan, USA; bass/guitar) and Craig Frost (b. 20 April 1948, Flint, Michigan, USA; keyboards), Flint formed in the late 70s following Brewer, Schacher (also ex-? And The Mysterians) and Frost’s departure from Grand Funk Railroad. Their name taken from the city of their birth, they recorded a self-titled debut album in 1978, but failed to secure any mainstream interest for their efforts. By the beginning of 1981 Brewer had rejoined a resurrected Grand Funk Railroad, with Frost moving on to Bob Seger’s Silver Bullet Band (whom Brewer would also later join). Schacher opted not to re-enlist due to his fear of flying, choosing instead to set up business restoring and renovating Jaguar cars. (NB: Not to be confused with the Prodigy spin-off group of the same name.)
