Fran Embick is an international artist living, working, and surfing across the Americas from Oregon to Brazil.
Her work examines modern marine landscapes using her unique aquatic perspective as a surfer and lifelong water and board sport enthusiast. Whether she is making her own clothes, designing bikinis for her friends, or painting in her studio, her work is always conscious of the relationship between civilization and the natural world. The objects she creates exist in both realms. Jessica's artwork provides a homage to the sublime landscape and depict a new nature that is fluid and readily altered through human intervention. Her environmental outlook can best be described through one of Stewart Brand’s famous aphorisms, “We are as gods and might as well get good at it.” She asks her viewers to consider a formal stewardship over our shared habitats and communities.

While much of her work is quite serious in subject matter, she allows her viewers to come back to the ultimate question “why not live the endless summer?”
