After being an amateur musician for more than 30 years now, and besides playing guitar/keyboards and singing in my current Cover Band "CoolRoxx" from Gross-Gerau, Germany (a new reformation of the band "emission"), Farewell Days is the synonym for my own special "do-it-yourself" music projects, sometimes involving musicians, too, who have temporarily joined me during my musical carreer.

Originally this project started with the song "TEARS FROM HEAVEN" which I wrote for and dedicated to a colleague and friend of mine, who died on brain cancer unexpectedly early in February 2009.

Initially, this song was just meant to be performed/played at the funeral ceremony two weeks after his passing away.

But, instead of just donating some Euros to the Brain Cancer foundation - as my friend had asked for instead of buying him funeral flowers - I wanted to create something that really helps Helmut's relatives, friends, colleagues and all who loved and liked him - to get smoothly across this severe and sudden loss, and to have something for them to remember about Helmut, even many years later.

However, what had grown musically within these two weeks from the first tears to the initial recording actually exceeded everyone's expectations, including mine.

Suddenly there was this fantastic melody of the song, drawing more and more attention to, the longer one listens to it. It actually crawls under one's skin and the melodies keep flowing in one's head and return repeatedly and constantly after hours and even after days. The mood and messages of this song are really amazing. Everyone who listened to it since - whether it be young or old, whether it be the 'contemporary music' - 'folk' - 'pop'- 'hip hop' - 'rock' or 'heavy/progressive' music fan, everyone was really amazed and became enthusiastic about what this song transported.

This led me to thinking whether there's more what this private work piece could bring about, compared to just putting it back onto the shelf and let it rest in dust after the ceremony ...

Well, there's actually more what this project is about to accomplish!

After having spent more than 50 initial hours for creating this song for the ceremony, I decided to produce my first CD and donate of its sales the entire earnings to the German Brain Cancer Foundation, that are exceeding its (low) self controllable production cost. Asked by some attendants of the ceremony I, in the end, also recorded and added three further a-capella gospels/classics, sung by ANN GRUBER. I thank her very much for standing by in order to getting her voice conserved in Memory of Helmut. Now, after more than 300 netto hours of personal production time and x-hundred hours for getting this initiative known to the public, the initial project CD is out for sale, including the original "Extended version" of TEARS FROM HEAVEN, a shortened "Radio edit" of it, plus these two great Bonus tracks (incl. "Ave Maria") from Ann Gruber. At this point I would also like Mr. BERND SUSENBURGER for some great photo shots used on the CD cover, on this website and posters, JENS KLEINHUIS - the sound magician for Mastering the CD versions of the songs, and last but not least, a bag full of thanks to CHRISTA, Helmut's wife, who encouraged me in doing all this. May there be lots of donations helping to win fighting against the cancer evil - here especially Brain Cancer.
