Aggressive indie rock/electro duo Fang & Darling, who hail from Berlin, forgo songs about love and loss and instead tread the line between existentialism and raging party music.
With influences ranging from Grace Jones to Neu! to their idols the Normal, Fang Krow (the domineering female voice of the group) and Darling Schnauzer (the pouty male shouter) helped to define the electro-punk scene with their unique lo-fi take on the genre, which included screaming in broken English through hand-built telephone microphones, and a heavy usage of distortion. Mixing electronic beats and homemade trashcan percussion with fuzzy keys and basslines, the songs on their self-titled debut album reflect the plight of an industrial, mechanized society in an increasingly post-industrial world. ~ Tim Sendra
