BB Ready
Former southern Connecticut resident, Brian B. Ready has played his instrument "since the Beatles". Some of his earliest influences were Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, and The Allman Brothers. In the mid 70's Brian was covering material by Larry Coryell, Billy Cobham, Frank Zappa and a host of other Jazz/Rock/Fusion artists. He made an original funk/fusion recording with his band Birtfo (Blow It Right The F....K Out) in the mid 80's and a solo fusion album in the early 90's. "My playing was more complicated then", Brian says,"in the early 90's I heard Stevie Ray and he turned my head around in the same way Jimi did when I was a kid. His music took me back to the basics of the blues."
Brian then steeped himself in the music of; Albert Collins, the Kings, Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon, Elmore James, Robben Ford and many other blues men. Brian formed The 7 South Blues band in 1993 and gigged in Fairfield and Westchester Counties for fifteen years.
In 2006, He formed Fade to Blues with his good friend Greg McCullough. The band immediately recorded a CD entitled, “In the Dark” which received international airplay. Fade to Blues was one of the top three blues bands out of a field of 100 in the CT. Blues Society’s annual Blues Challenge from 2006-2008. Brian has shared the stage with a number of artists including; The Definitive Soul Project, The Syndicate of Soul, Mom Said No, The King St. Blues Band, NY Blues Queen Roxy Perry, Paul Nelson (Liege Lord and Johnny Winter), The Drifters, Debbie Davies, Renault Richards (Ray Charles Band), Lew Soloff (Blood, Sweat and Tears) and The Committments. Brian's approach to music is "...all about heart and soul. It's not something I'm thinking about at the time, it's just happening between all of us. It's pure, it's love, it's simple, uncomplicated. You open up a “musical door”, step through it and take a journey”. With the re-formation of Fade to Blues in the Lake Placid, NY area Brian hopes to bring some Texas heat to the Adirondack Mountains in upstate NY.
