Erik Stams has been a professional musician for over 25 years.
He performs and records regularly and teaches in both London and South Wales. He is the Head of Drums at Tech Music School, London (formerly Drumtech).

Erik started playing drums at 10 years old. He went on to study under JustinDiCioccio at the Fiorello Laguardia School of the Arts, NYC (FAME) and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. He studied privately with the legendary Henry Adler(co-author of Louie Bellson’s Modern Reading Text in 4/4 and Buddy Rich’s SnareDrum Rudiments), Walter Garces and briefly with Jerry Gonzalez and spent his formative years performing and recording in and around New York City.

After a tour of Japan in 1996 with the World’s Fastest Car (Walter Schreifels-Quicksand, Rival Schools) Erik settled in London. Since then he has performed and recorded with Butch Thomas (Sting, Lenny Kravitz), disco-diva Viola Wills, Jamie Lawson, the GlyndebourneTouring Opera, Ensemble Bash, Drill Queen, Eyes on Film, War Machines of Love (with Adrian Portis from New Model Army/Spear of Destiny), Jon Langford (the Three Johns, the Mekons, the Waco Brothers), the DarlingBuds, Monkjack, Bond, John Wheatcroft, Stu Hamm, Dave Marks...
