      Notice the diagonal brace. When the hide drys it puts a lot of pressure on the frame.

      Here is Yuki again. Not sure how old she is though. She's an Alaskan Malamute. This is the hide pre-tanned.

      When tanning the hide it should be white and without meat or membrane similar to the white patch on the left side of the hide here.

      To tan the hide you need a good smoking fire. Start with dry sticks and tinder. Then add moist partially decomposed leaves on top.

      Now we just wait. Takes between 30-45min to smoke the hide.
