The summer of 1990, saw the very beginning of ECD.
At the time everyone that rode in the area still pretty much was separated into there own groups. There was the Easton crew (Sales,Lonergan, Price, Joe Rich), Allentown crew aka ATK (Activ Transpo Kids - Mel,Luc-E, Chris Hallman), Posh Crew (local to posh and Freedom - Rob Kaufman, Mark Hall, Mike'Mach 6'Walker, Griffin, Butcher), Fountain Hill (MCM, Chet, Genny)and the Bethlehem crew (local to Liberty - Greg, Keith, Matt, Stimmel). One of the Bethlehem guys Greg Speicher, who if you met him back then would know exactly what I mean, was a little out there. He did alot of wild and crazy things and got coined with the nickname the Buttman. The rest of us, cause weall hung out and rode together became known as the Butt Brothers. There were originally 4 of us, Keith Gower, Brian Stimmel, Greg the Buttman, and myself Matt Stauffer. Not long after Mike 'MCM' McCafferty and Mike Griffin became apart on the crew. More and more all the smaller crews starting hooking up and riding together. Whether at Posh or outstreet riding, big sessions were being held and everyone was becoming united. That is basically were ECD came from. It was basically our whole riding scene becoming one which was then known as East Coast Destruction. 'East Coast' cause obviously that is where we are from and 'Destruction' cause everywhere we went we would cause havoc and mayhem, whether on our bikes ripping it up at a spot or chillin at a party and getting loose, our mark was left and you knew the ECD crew was there.
In the fall of 1990 we purchased our first video camera, used of course, and starting filming everything and anything. Wherever we went the camera was there. From partying, to riding, to just driving around, we filmed it all. We were gaining much notoriety especially at the NBL races. Not just for our riding but also because of Greg. He put on some wild shows at those races which were becoming a must see event, kind of like a freak show you could call it. We actually even had S&M, UGP, ODI, Mental Jimmies, and Rad Accessories throwing the team sponser support. In the summer of 91 we got our first shirts and stickers made with the help of Ron Bonner at UGP. In the fall of that year, after a year of filming, we decided to put our first video together. We got 2 VCRs, a cheap audio mixer at Radio Shack, and starting editing. We threw everything in it,from the riding, to the antics, the nonsense, Greg's shows, an hour long when we were done. At the end after the video seemed over, we put one of Greg's most famous shows filmed at the Kentucky NBL grands in, which was attended by alot of big names in the sport and who are still today. We would sell the video and shirts out of our backpacks at the races and somehow word got back to one of the NBL's major guys Bob Tedesko. I guess he either heard about or saw the video and wasn't to happy with us selling them at his events 'unauthorized'.That is where our second shirt design came from, it said NBL's most wanted on it with the Butt Brothers symbol. Things actually became heated after that shirt became public and Ron of Ugp was warned about making it by the NBL so we got the screens and starting doing them ourselves. Things faded out with the NBL like all things do but for the Butt Bros and ECD it was truly only the beginning.
