Even though former Disband frontwoman Gig Ryan (vocals/guitar) and ex-Cannanes drummer David Nichols met in Sydney, Australia in the late '80s, they didn't start playing together until forming Driving Past in 1996.
Along with the addition of Hydroplane bassist Andrew Withycombe and keyboard/guitarist Mia Schoen, Driving Past's line-up was complete as they continued in the power-pop/indie rock ethics of their previous bands. Chapter Music eventually released the band's first full-length Real Estate in 1999 after putting out two prior singles. ~ Mike DaRonco
