Downwards was started as the brainchild of Guitarist Lance Herber. Having spent several years looking for the right drummer, and after leaving the thrash metal band he was in, Lance recruited that bands drummer Derek Wagenschwanz for Downwards.

2008 -

Lance and Derek rehearsed and recorded a demo themselves as just the 2 of them, before seeking others to complete Downwards. Vocalist Josh Ferris, Guitarist James Penner, and Bassist Paula Reynolds were recruited to completed the band. As this newly completed 5 piece, Downwards started playing shows through 2008-2009.

2009 -

Derek had decided to leave Downwards, so the search for a new drummer was had begun. During this same time, Downwards and Paula parted ways, so the search for a bass player was also underway. After a few months of searching, Drummer Mike Cassdei joined the band. Then, soon after, Chris Howlin joined the band, playing bass. Downwards spent the next year playing shows, creating even heavier music, and recording a new EP.

2010 -

Josh left the band, and James took over as Vocalist, Chris moved from Bassist to Guitarist, and the search of a new bass player began, as Downwards continued to play shows as a 4 piece. Mid-2010, Lance had to take a job working nights, and the band was put on hiatus.

2020 -

Now, after a decade of inactivity, and members moving onto other things, we are putting the band back together, and reviving Downwards! We are looking for a Vocalist, Drummer, and Bassist
