Born in Chicago and raised in Dallas, capable guitarist Douglas "Doug" Datwyler plays pop music flavored with tropical spice.
The tropical side to his music appeared after touring and performing through sections of Africa and South America.

As part of his musical training on the guitar, Datwyler attended the North Texas State University. After his graduation he followed his dreams to Los Angeles, where he landed a job with the Commodores, a well-known Motown pop/rock group. Datwyler worked with the group for about seven years, playing guitar with them on tours and in recordings.

In 1998, he at last got the chance to record a solo album, Tropical Paradise. The appealing debut was released under the BSC Music label. The album carries 12 tropical and jazz-influenced tunes like "Dance of the Sun," "Into the Rainforest," "Seashells," and "Bird's of Paradise." ~ Charlotte Dillon
