The New York City-based DJ Reset gained notoriety for his mash-ups -- such as "Frontin' on Debra" (Pharrell meets Beck), "7 Superman Army" (Eminem meets the White Stripes), and "With a Little 1999" (Wings meet Prince) -- but he had been involved with music in a number of capacities prior to those successes.
He initially trained as a classical pianist and then made a switch to guitar and drums, at various points falling under the guidance of Max Roach and Billy Taylor, Jr. Years later, he took up DJing as he juggled jobs with radio stations and record labels and, with Fatboy Slim, founded New York's Big Beat Boutique in 1999. ~ Andy Kellman
