DJ Grizz fell in love with music at a young age.
His dad would play music on his record player every weekend, everything from MJ to Conway Twitty. He grew up in a home where music was very much a major part of everyday life. Being the
youngest of seven, his musical influences date way back to the late 60's early 70's. Two of his brothers were successful DJ’s in the Toronto area, and his dad was a well known dj back in Jamaica. Its clear that music was in his blood since birth, and at age 15 it was his moment to begin a love affair with the wheels of steel. With his brother "Shug" showing him the way, DJ Grizz's first mix ever would be Destiny’s Child’s “No, No, No” mixed into Beatnuts “Watch Out Now”. "I remember the feeling of accomplishment and how good it felt to take two tracks, blend them, and create something new" he says. Shortly after that DJ Grizz started DJing at his youth group, soon after that, a few house parties in his neighborhood. Then, nothing... He stopped DJ-ing, he had to. At the age of 20 he became very ill, was in and out of hospital on a regular basis for about three years due to a blood disorder called "Sickle Cell". During this time he made decision to leave Toronto and move out to Edmonton, Alberta. Where he met some talented DJ's who mentored and taught Grizz the ins and outs of the DJ scene.
Grizz has had opportunities to DJ for celebrities, various clubs, initiate annual social events, private parties and more. Most recently preformed with
Edmonton MC Dizzy at SXSW where he met Big Heff and DJ Johnny O and was made an honorary Nerve Dj.
DJ Grizz has opened for Bone Thugs N' Harmony, Kid Ink, French Montana, LUNICE, Royce Da 5'9, Big Sean, MGK, Tha Dogg Pound, Trinidad James, Fabolous, Hopsin, Danny Brown, Yo Gotti, and several more.
Dj Grizz has teamed up with fellow Nerve dj, DJ Disspare on his new project #Etown. He has only begun making noise, be on the look out, much more to come."
