While he’s better known as #6 of the masked heavy metal outfit Slipknot, Shawn Crahan is also the man behind Dirty Little Rabbits.
The band began to form up in 2007 after Crahan met keyboardist Michael Pfaff at a jam session. Liking the musical chemistry they had together, they began to recruit other musicians to the cause, bringing on guitarist Ty Fyhrie, bassist Jeff Karnowski, and singer Stella Katsoudas. Dirty Little Rabbits' sound borrows from all corners of the alt-rock world, combining gothic drama, swirling organs, and pop melody into one convenient package. The band found time to tour and record whenever Crahan wasn’t on tour with Slipknot, releasing two EPs, Breeding and Simon, in 2007 and 2009, respectively, and signed to The End Records. Eventually, the band recorded their full-length debut, Dirty Little Rabbits, which was released on The End in 2010. After the recording of the album, Fyhrie was replaced by guitarist Ryan Martin. ~ Gregory Heaney
