In 1992 members of local Brooklyn hardcore favorites Crowd Control along with members of one of B'klyn's top thrash/speed metal bands, Lunattack joined forces to create Metal powerhouse Deadzone.
Originally Guitarist Vinny Tufariello, Drummer Al Tafurelli, Vox/Keyboards Tommy Fico of Crowd Control, and Bassist John Laino, and Vox/Keyboards L'Andru of Lunattack. The bands lineup changed many times throughout 92, in late 92, the guys enlisted long time friend Rob Ruotolo to fill the drummers slot, and further rounded out their sound by adding Lunattack guitarist Alex Strange. It was the lineup of L'Andru, Vinny, John, Alex, and Rob, that went into the studio, to write and produce the classic indie EP, An Audio Interpretation of Human Existence which enjoyed critical acclaim in the US and Europe. The album was recorded at Brooklyn's infamous Sty in the Sky Studios, and engineered by Type O Negative keyboardist Josh Silver. It reached high into the request charts of many European metal radio stations, as well as making it into the general rotation on many US college metal radio shows. However with the Seattle scene in full force, many music scenes including the once great underground scene of N.Y.C. died, with many venues closing and show attendance dropping, Deadzone became an underground cult band, without an outlet for its mayhem. By late 95 despite good record sales in Europe and South America, a constantly changing drummers position, and fights over musical direction, had taken its toll, and Deadzone parted company. In late 2004 the original line up as it appeared on the Audio CD reunited, the band since has been hard at work in the recording studio. Working with engineer Andy Guida [Voice or No Voice & Supertouch] at Mach1/Fastlane studio's & Photonic studio's. They are currently completing the new album, the first new full length Deadzone release in over 14 years. The album titled "Long Pig" is due out on the market in late 2010.
