Blues, Rock, Roots, Celtic folk and Americana – all have a secure future in the talented hands of Isle of Man born, Chicago based singer, songwriter and guitarist DAVY KNOWLES.
Just over six years into his professional music career, Knowles's talent has already been acknowledged by some of the biggest names in music (Joe Satriani has dubbed Davy “my new favourite modern-day bluesman.” ) and since his US debut with his band BACK DOOR SLAM at SXSW in 2007 he has played over 500 shows world wide, and shared the stage – and the recording studio – with some of his musical heroes.

Davy fell in love with guitars and music making at age 11 after hearing the Dire Straits’ classic “Sultans of Swing”. Learning by ear to play this tune on his father’s guitar, he soon developed a hunger to learn more, and through further trawling of his dad's record collection he discovered John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Cream and Rory Gallagher – who all became significant early influences.

After a relentless almost 4 year tour schedule in support of his first two albums – ROLL AWAY and COMING UP FOR AIR (BLIX ST. RECORDS) – which included opener slots for The Who, George Thorogood, Kid Rock, Lynrd Skynrd,Warren Haynes & Gov’t Mule, Jeff Beck, the Sammy Hagar/Joe Satriani inspired “super group” Chickenfoot, and a stint as a member of the Rhythm Devils (founded by Grateful Dead drummers Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart) – 2012 and 13 allowed Davy some time off the road for writing and recording and for playing select live shows, including a number of intimate, solo/acoustic dates. He also joined Peter Frampton, a mentor and the co-producer of sophomore album “Coming Up for Air,” for a date on Frampton’s “Guitar Circus” tour, which included a stirring version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” also featuring the wizardry of Sonny Landreth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z45ePUh4So0).

For the past 18 month's Knowles has been writing and recording with Grammy winning producer Steve Chrisanthou, and has earmarked 2014 to deliver a raft of exciting new music for release through the next couple of years – along with a commitment to tour throughout the world in support of the releases.

*In 2014, Knowles will serve as an official Cultural Ambassador in support of the Isle of Man's “Year of Culture” – the biggest cultural celebration in the history of the tiny Celtic nation. Amongst other commitments Davy will film and record a documentary tracing the journey of Celtic folk music around the world and especially it's roll in the genesis and development of bluegrass, country, and Americana.

*Davy is one of the very few artists to have played directly to the International Space Station from Mission Control in Houston, TX. He recorded a wake-up song for US Astronaut Nicole Stott on the morning of one of her missions during her time aboard the ISS and both Stott and fellow Astronaut Ron Garan have taken Davy’s music with them aboard the ISS. Davy has also served as a ‘bloggernaut’ for Garan’s ‘Fragile Oasis’ website and during a show on home soil in the Isle Of Man, Davy was proud to receive a commemorative plaque from the Astronauts who flew the last Discovery shuttle mission.

*For the past five years Davy has worked exclusively with PAUL REED SMITH (PRS) Guitars of which he say's “ they make the most rock-solid, reliable and consistent instruments I've ever played. The PRS guys are great to work with, they make me feel part of their team, and one of the family”. Davy has played many events with PRS, produced several demo videos, and was also involved in the design process of the very popular PRS Signature limited guitar : http://www.prsguitars.com/2012/signaturelimited/
