Daniel started to sing very early, while still as a child, encouraged by his father.
After doing parties, bars, and several festivals in upstate São Paulo, he formed in 1980 a duo with João Paulo (João Paulo e Daniel) that achieved immense success for over ten years, ending with João Paulo's death in 1997. In 1998, Daniel started his solo career, gradually abandoning the pop-sertanejo genre adopted by his ex-duo and embracing a romantic style. Daniel, his debut album, sold one-million copies. In the next year, he worked in the soap opera Estrela de Fogo (TV Bandeirantes), on the TV Globo series Chiquinha Gonzaga, interpreting the song "Lua Branca," and also hosted the opening presentation of the show Amigos e Sucessos (TV Record). His second solo CD, Vou Levando a Vida, won a diamond record. ~ Alvaro Neder
