Modern Irish traditional music from Poland.
Traditional tunes and songs are the starting point in creating their own musical ideas and putting together apparently remote worlds.

Named after Danar (Irish word for a foreigner, barbarian) the group shows an easy and laid-back attitude towards the interpretation of musical tradition. Withtheir modern artistic sensitivity they are not afraid of incorporating unconventional ideas into their arrangements and performances. In their music you can hear jazz influences, swing beats, swaying of bossa nova, sounds from the East and dynamism of rock. Every musician brings into their music all that is really important of themselves. Everything comes together thanks to a deep fascination with Irish culture and a passion for music of Green Island.

The band debuted in 2004 at the Celtic Culture Festival in Dowspuda, Poland. They madeappearances at the most important festivals of Celtic music in Poland including “Dowspuda”Festival, “The Castle” Festival in Bedzin, “Magic Green Islands” Folk Festival in Cracow, “Celtic Echoes” in Warsaw, Wackelstein Festival in Austria and have played many individual concerts all around Poland, France, Netherlands, Germany and Austria.

In April 2009 Danar recorded in Vienna debut album "Danar". Album released by Austrian label Heurekord had its première on 30th August, 2009 in Poland and on 1st September, 2009 in Austria. It won 4th place on "Wirtualne Gęśle 2009" - the competition for best folk music album in Poland.
