Industrial metal veterans Contingence began their journey into electronic-based mayhem in 1990, a prime period for the genre.
Inspired by the growing Wax Trax scene, founder/vocalist/programmer Xerxes Non began releasing his own sonic experiments that he was building in his house with a limited array of equipment. Once the group's name began to spread in the underground, Non began to make audible improvements to their sound. He added guitarist Johnny Lenzini in 1994 and began to send the group's sound closer to heavy metal, eventually necessitating the use of a drummer. Johnny Ostrem scored the gig in 1996 and the trio was finally complete. From that point, their live shows became a much bigger priority and the group began to sharpen their sound as the albums grew higher in profile. ~ Bradley Torreano
