Inspired by the metallic hardcore that was growing in their scene of Hanover, Germany, Jörn Alraun (vocals), Bryan Thias (guitar), Jan Vollmann (bass) and Aram Geraets (drums) formed Constraint in early 1995.
Along with fellow new school scenesters Rykers, Constraint also imported 90's New York hardcore and even had the chance to play with the like of Earth Crisis, Integrity, Turmoil, By The Grace of God among others. After two years, Germany's Life Force Records released the CD EP "Twelveeighteen" and "The Breath" 7" before the band moved onto Kingfisher Records in 1998. There, Constraint issued their first full length "Changes," and topped it off with a European tour. ~ Mike DaRonco
