Beginning with their 1995 debut album, Singapore rock band Concave Scream paved the way for other homegrown bands, particularly amid the country's fledgling indie rock scene.
Founded in 1994 by schoolmates Sean Lam (lead vocals, guitar) and Pann Lim (lead guitar, vocals), the band released its self-financed, self-titled debut album in 1995 and saw it catch on steadily among English-language rock listeners in Singapore, especially among critics. The growing buzz about Concave Scream led to the breakthrough success of their second album, Erratic (1997), which spawned several radio hits and elevated the band to the top of Singapore's rock scene. Three (1999) continued the band's success, but it would be a long seven years before Concave Scream returned with their fourth album, Horizons (2006), a self-financed, independently released effort. ~ Jason Birchmeier
