Hey Ya!
MusicLovers!
Thks 4 taking a moment 2 chk me out!
:oDs! *\o/*'s!
I've been doing My"Melding/Drumtar"Harmonic Voiceworkfor Over 13yrs Now Daily without a break:o)
"Melding" is simply put: Harmonizing Vocally.
I work mostly with Female Singer/Songwriters: My Favs,New Artists/Bands A Big Thxs to @noisetrade for providing and introducing me to some Absolutely Amazing Beautiful New Music/Artists
I Harmonize"Meld"My Voice into these different artists music/tracks
and creatively Beat my full-bodied acoustic guitar. I use it more like Drum than a traditional guitar.I invented this back 1 yr into the "Melding"Voicework. I've spent most of my adult life living with hanging with buddies bands and One thing I've heard is that a singer shouldnt be just that they should contribute instrumentally as well. With this in mind I Came up with a way to do that.Myown way:oD
And I call it "Drumtar" I can play along side almost any genre/style and its a real rush when I get In-Tune with new bands/Music.
The"Melding"Voicework was born out of being taught Buddhist Meditations from a Buddhist Monk from Mainland China.I learned some of the basic chants and then one day I had the computer on playing "Washing of the Water"By @PeterGabriel and I started to sing along,Like most of us:o)And I liked it So much I started to study/ "Meld" with All of Peter's music.
Then naturally I studied all my favorite singers and this continued until I decided to try a female voice to Harmonize/"Meld" with.& after thinking I live in Vancouver I thought of Sarah Mclachlan. Its her hometown. And She is an Incredible Vocalist & Songwriter.
And I had a female roomie from Australia who told me that Sarah's song "Angel" was the song she wanted to be played at her funeral. She wasnt dying. She just knew that if she did, she would want this played at her service. That really piqued my interest as I heard that Sarah's Music was a big favorite from So many other female friends over the yrs. To be honest I wasn't a big fan.But that day I did "Angel" for the first time was magical.
I had also bought a ticket to see Cyndi Lauper, one of my fav from growing up in the 80s,on tour with a wack of other awesome bands B-52s was one.Rosie O'Donnell was hosting.Seeing Cyndi singing right in front me was So sweet.
Then Sarah Mclachlan stepped on stage sat down a grand piano and sang : "Angel".It was Magical. You could have heard pin drop just before she started and when she did everyone in attendance was captivated and truthfully, i got a little emotional.A Truly Beautiful Moment.
After that incredible day I went back and absorbed "Melded" to all of Sarah Music. And thanks to that song I threw myself into all my fav. female singers: Stevie Nicks , Annie Lennox , Feist . Patsy Cline , KD Lang , Billie Hoilday , Cyndi Lauper , Madonna, Beyonce, Florence Welch And Zooey Deschanel
& 100s of others over the years now:oD
Another Huge influence on my"Melding" that took 4 yrs to build up the courage to harmonize with:
The Amazing R&B FunkMeister,
Prince.
I became a fan back in my Lil'RedNeckVille Town of Prince George.
I am a Big fan of Michael Jackson But Prince released "Purple Rain" and that changed a lot of things in my rambunctious teen boy musical brain.
My Dad that had the Massive Hifi Stereo with $200 needle for his turntable.Thats Crazy because it was the early 80s.Of course my access to his HiFi system was limited But the day I bought "Purple Rain"was Incredible.I must have bopped & pranced & Rocked Out to that album 100s of times.
I became a Huge Fan & in the dead of winter in the middle of a blizzard got all dressed up to the nines w/ my best bud & decided to hitchhike 700 miles to see Prince in his 1st Vancouver concert;oD
Well, we didnt make it.The police put us on a bus back home;oD
I was So affected I went to school several times dressed up "Prince"ed Out.That didnt go well w/ the RedNeck-Types.But I was a Strange Cat & refused to be part of the norm.Heck! I even got into a fistfight w/ a classmate because he broke my Prince Mixtape.A Very Serious Fan;oD
But within My"Melding"World. It took 7yrs to feel I could.
The first song was of course, "Purple Rain" And Yes.It was Magic.
I've been fortunate enough to see him live 3 times. In concert there is no comparison.Even coaxing his fans out of there front row seats & then letting them chill on stage w/ pillows! Too Cool.
But my Love for the Purple One isnt just about his music.
Its also about his progressive way of presenting his music to the world.
And being able to Funk-Out w/ ANY of Prince's music is Very Cool:oD
Also Special Thxs to Sarah McLachlan , Annie Lennox, Feist & Florence Welch for Inspiring & Pushing me to attempt "Melding"
