Argentinean Latin rock band Cienfuegos got involved in the local scene in the early '80s, playing under the name of los Marginados.
In 1996, the group, led by ex-los Fabulosos Cadillacs Sergio Rotman, self-produced its first album. A year later, Cienfuegos participated in a local compilation called Buenos Aires City Rockers 2, released by Resiste Records, featuring the Clash's "Straight to Hell." In 1998, NS/NC (No Sabe/No Contesta) came out with a successful cover of Taking Heads' "Once in a Lifetime." In 1999, Divididos' Ricardo Mollo produced the band's third album, Hacia El Cosmos, featuring a Latin-flavor version of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart." ~ Drago Bonacich
