At age 7 Che's family moved to Austin, TX where he attended elementary school, and experienced physical and verbal bullying for the first time by his classmates. This is when Che Blaq's love for music came into play, giving him his only escape from his antagonizers.
Nervous and somewhat shy, Che Blaq found solid footing when his 4th grade music teacher placed him as soloist for a school production performing for Queen Elizabeth of Wales. Once again Che Blaq moved to Seattle temporarily with his father in 1993 while his mother stayed in Austin to finalize their new Seattle residence. Taking the lessons learned, Che sharpened his singing and songwriting abilities in middle and high school in a number of groups winning talent competitions and community festivals with moderate success.
After a short hiatus, Che with a friend from a rival high school formed the local sensation The ARq in 2001. The two released 5 studio albums and performed in various national venues until their dissolution in early 2011. Since then,Che Blaq has released his solo debut EP entitled ''Fearless: The Che Blaq EP, has had 3 songs place in the film "Politics of Love" starring Ruby Dee, Brian Michael White, and Loretta Devine. He has also worked with the likes of Big K.R.I.T., Jagged Edge, Messy Marv, and Aaron Hall. Che Blaq's mission is to bring his signature sound to the most popular and influential artists in the industry. With features on some of urban music's veterans and rising stars, Che Blaq's odyssey seems that of assent, affirmation, and ease.
