Corey Dixon (born 31 March, 1978) better known by his stage name Cdp Joka, is a rapper signed to Hard Hustla Muzik.
Born & Raised in Louisville,Ky's notorious Clarksdale Housing Projects. His name arose due to his Fathers street name "Joker".His older brother Huss tried to keep him away from thuggin’ but, once it became clear that Joka was going to be there, his brother was determined to teach him how to survive on the streets. Then, after dropping out of high school in 1996, an older close friend , Corey, was shot and killed by his his bedroom window. “People don’t know what type of toll that takes on your life,” he says. “Especially being young and just fresh out in the world.” The 6-foot-4 Joka now started gangbangin’ hard--car thefts, drug dealing and shootings. Finding him too much to handle, his mother kicked him out of her house. His aim was to do something with his life, and use his harsh experiences of life to his advantage, he wanted to enter the world of Gangsta rap. He studied the albums his brother brought him carefully over the next five months. In April 1995, he rapped for the first time. Together in 1999 with his brothers Huss, Cdp Joka & Innocent put together a EP "On A Mission" in order to get their voice heard. After selling over 10,000 units indie and gaining local and regional fanbase, the group broke up due to creative differences.Joka possesses the talent and the musical passion to turn heads in the entertainment/music industry with his charisma, astounding studio resume, and his street credibility all obtained at such a young age.Opening up for popular artist like 8-Ball & MJG ,DMX,Trina,Trick Daddy,Naughty By Nature and Layzie Bone.Joka has released a series of popular mixtapes on the internet thru the 00's getting over 100,000 downloads and also starting Joka Tv a Youtube web series spotlighting Cdp Joka and other local area artist and events.Cdp Joka is considered to be a driving force in reviving the Kentucky hip hop scene, which had been overshadowed by artists from the East and South. His sole regret is that his brother--the only person who ever believed he could make it out - passed away before he could see his success not just in rap but in life.
