Chris Carbinax, otherwise known as Carbinax, and formerly known as 2ndMOUSE ( circa 2005 to 2015 ), had a very profound epiphany while hearing Hraftwerks' "The Model" for the first time at the tender age of 10.
Various other bands and artists expanded upon that revelation as the young Carbinax subsequently discovered Jarre, Vangelis, Jan Hammer, Howard Jones, Depeche Mode, and early Warp Records releases from LFO, Nightmares on Wax, Sweet Exorcist , early Aphex Twin etc.....which then led to Detroit Techno Pioneers such as Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Sauderson, Blake Baxter and Carl Craig, Luke Slater, Dan Curtin, followed by Humanoid / The Future Sound Of London ,Plaid and Boards of Canada.
While Carbinax is very much a free spirit in terms of not sticking to any particular genre besides the wide umbrella term of "Experimental Electronica", there are consistencies that run like a thread through the entirety of His 10 album career, which is a healthy curiosity for imaginative melodies and unusual, often contrasting, unconventional arrangements. The emphasis is squarely on melody as He says "people dont play a track on repeat because the production was good".
There has always been a desire with 2ndMOUSE, and now Carbinax, to experiment and tease out unusual ideas but interlace them with catchy, addictive synth leads, broken beats and pulsing Basslines
An "Imagineer" is how Carbinax sees Himself. Equal parts imagination and engineering, endeavouring to make solid electronica that would stand the test of time, whilst searching for secret chords and hooks that have never existed before.
