Capture the Sun formed in 2009 by three University of Maine Music students: Kyle Hussey, James Hadley, and Justin Hadley.
They quickly began writing and rehearsing music; drawing influences from renowned acts such as: Scale the Summit, Mastodon, and Between the Buried and Me and remained in the form of a three piece for well over a year. Despite not having a bass player, Capture the Sun continued to write and play shows for whoever wanted to listen. In 2010 they recorded their first Four Song demo "Taking Tiger Mountain by Force" which garnered a small amount of attention in the Maine music scene. In the Summer of 2010 Capture the Sun was approached by Tony Babb: another University of Maine Music student who asked if he could audition for the fourth and final slot in the CTS lineup. Impressed by Babb, the other three members welcomed him into the band and a month later, Capture the Sun's roster was complete.
With the new addition, Capture the Sun's determination was stronger than ever and in early 2011 with the help of their friend Luke Abbott (of the Power Violence band: Robocop) they began recording what would eventually become their first Full Length album. The Self Titled album was released in March of 2012, just over a year after they began recording it. Ever since it's release it has received positive attention locally and overseas; featuring over 70 minutes of intense, melodic, and intricate Instrumental music the only way it could be better is if it were free, and it is.
Capture the Sun has released their album at 'Bandcamp.com' under and "Name your price" tag. "Take what you want; Give us what you can, It's about the music, not us." They would rather have people listen to and enjoy their music than make money from it and they are not going to stop here. Capture the Sun is ready to take the Instrumental World by storm hoping to follow in the tracks of other Maine Artists like Last Chance to Reason.
A year after the release of Capture the Sun's debut, full-length album the band parted ways with Tony Babb due to personal and scholastic reasons in the spring of 2013. The vacancy was quickly filled by long time friend Sean Edwards and since that time Capture the Sun has become a stronger force in the Progressive music scene. The have taken steps towards enhancing their live performance and have nearly completed their second full length album.

"Capture The Sun have blind-sided me with their debut self titled release. It went something like this; Saw the link, downloaded it, enjoyed it. The End." - Severed Heads Open Minds
