Capracara is one of London, England native Jonathan Burnip's production aliases.
Joining other practitioners of twisted 21st century acid house like Jamal Moss (Hieroglyphic Being) and Tadd Mullinix (James T. Cotton), Burnip's first Capracara 12" -- "Opal Rush"/"Flashback 86," snaking tracks heavily informed by Chicago house pioneers Adonis, Phuture, and Larry Heard -- came out in 2006 through Soul Jazz. Its A-side was subsequently remixed by Kit Clayton. The next Capracara release, "King of the Witches" (featuring a Rub 'n' Tug mix on the flipside), didn't arrive until February 2009 on DFA, yet Burnip was active in other ways, remixing as one half of the duo Tiger Timing, contributing re-edit work to the History Clock label, and prepping material with Quiet Village's Joel Martin under the name Churchill's Leopards. ~ Andy Kellman
