Laurent Mercier is born in France in 1967.
He spends a part of his childhood on the roads with his parents who are working in the music industry.

Later he studies at the « école nationale supérieure des Beaux-arts » in Paris. He exhibits regularly at the Galerie Donguy rue de la Roquette in Paris then he organizes collective exhibitions from the artist action group created by Michel Journiac. He takes part in events on the subject of the artist condition and status in the society, in institutions like Unesco.

He joins Jacques Donguy in his publishing structure “Association for the Development of Multimedia Literature”.

In the same time he teaches Visual Arts at the Jail “maison centrale de Poissy”. He writes a book with a prisoner on the theme of the Economy of cocaine but the publication will be refused.

He creates his own school “Studio Mercier” where are trained becoming CG Artists, working currently in international production studios.

He creates with Linda Mercier his own production studio Callicore oriented as a resistance act against majors’ stranglehold and against “the cultural dictatorship of media”.

Xavier Semen joins Callicore where he’s producer and lead animator.

They win a Webby Award with John Lee Hooker, Jr. with the animated music video ”Blues ain’t nothin’ but a Pimp” and enlarge Callicore’s skills with music publishing.

More than a collaboration, John Lee Hooker Jr and Laurent Mercier develop a strenght complicity and a real brotherhood.

Among the artists co-produced by Laurent Mercier : John Lee Hooker jr, Arrested Development, Carbon Silicon,The buzzcocks, The Meteors, TheWashington Dead cats, Marky Ramones Blitzkrieg, We are the fury and recently CAKE and Brian Setzer.

Today the team Callicore is represented by Laurent Mercier and XavierSsemen.
