Holy Fire ( Greek Ἃγιον Φῶς, " Holy Light " ) A miracle that occurs every year at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on Great Saturday (or Holy Saturday, the day preceding Orthodox Easter) as lightning descends from heaven , a few hours before His celebration Resurrection. This fact attracted the attention of many researchers for a long time . They try to solve this secret explain incredible phenomenon from a rational point of view. Measurements that led Russian physicist Andrei Volkov at Easter ceremony last year may shed light on this puzzle

The branch head of the Kurchatov atomic energy institute Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Andrey Volkov spoke about his own attempt to measure low-frequency long-wavelength radio signals in Jerusalem church during annual descent of the Holy Fire. The scientist used special equipment to make measurements in the church during 6,5 hours of waiting for the fire . Volkov considers "absolute miracle" the difference between indices received on the descent day and the day before.

The device fixing a spectrum of electromagnetic radiation detected a strange long-wave impulse in the temple. Volkov is sure that these energy flows have nothing to do with the fire. He confirms his theory saying that within first minutes the ‘fire’ doesn’t bite. Low-temperature plasma has the same qualities. Pilgrims also claim the Holy Fire does not burn their hair, faces, clothes or anything else during the first minutes of its appearance.

Volkov made a scientific achievement as he carried out the first in history serious, trustworthy and responsible scientific research of the Holy Fire." Volkov also states he bears full responsibility for the received results and is ready to present them.

It turned out that the first facts of the mysterious phenomenon were fixed more than one thousand years ago. Before the Descent of the Holy Fire some strange energy flows down the temple’s walls. However today they cannot be seen be because of numerous camera flashes.

Patriarch of Jerusalem described the process of the coming down of the fire as follows: I find my way through the darkness towards the inner chamber in which I fall on my knees. Here I say certain prayers that have been handed down to us through the centuries and, having said them, I wait. Sometimes I may wait a few minutes, but normally the miracle happens immediately after I have said the prayers.

Patriarch of Jerusalem described the process of the coming down of the fire as follows: From the core of the very stone on which Jesus lay an indefinable light pours forth. It usually has a blue tint, but the color may change and take many different hues. It cannot be described in human terms. The light rises out of the stone as mist may rise out of a lake it almost looks as if the stone is covered by a moist cloud, but it is light. This light each year behaves differently.

Patriarch of Jerusalem described the process of the coming down of the fire as follows: Sometimes it covers just the stone, while other times it gives light to the whole sepulchre, so that people who stand outside the tomb and look into it will see it filled with light. The light does not burn. I have never had my beard burnt in all the 16 years I have been Patriarch in Jerusalem and have received the Holy Fire. The light is of a different consistency than normal fire that burns in an oil lamp.

Patriarch of Jerusalem described the process of the coming down of the fire as follows: At a certain point the light rises and forms a column in which the fire is of a different nature, so that I am able to light my candles from it. When I thus have received the flame on my candles, I go out and give the fire first to the Armenian Patriarch and then to the Coptic. Hereafter I give the flame to all people present in the Church.
