Boy Omega is the roof under which Swedish multi-instrumentalist Martin Henrik Hasselgren (formerly Gustafsson) collects his songs.
Martin was born in 1978 and raised in a small town in the southern woods of Sweden. The first records bought were “Creatures of the night” and “Music from The Elder” by Kiss. It was also these two albums that got him playing drums at an early age. At age 12 Martin broke his right leg at soccer practice and that summer in plaster he picked up his grandmother’s salvation army guitar, got hooked and never looked back.

Boy Omega’s unique brand of music, mixing singer/songwriter acoustic elements with experimental electronic beatz and a live string orchestra is at once fragile, vibrant and wholehearted, and has drawn comparison to the likes of Elliott Smith, Sparklehorse, Björk, The Cure, Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, New Order and Xiu Xiu. According to Hasselgren, "Kraftwerk is as big an inspiration as Bob Dylan".

Since he began writing songs under the Boy Omega moniker in 2002, Hasselgren has put out an impressive, rich body of work, including six full length albums, two compilations with unreleased/rare tracks, four eps, and numerous singles.

Over the last decade, Boy Omega has played tons of shows all over Europe and shared stages with the likes of Isobel Campbell, Great Lake swimmers, Califone, Akron/Family, Maria Taylor, John Vanderslice and Mark Lanegan, to name a few. Hasselgren is also a member of the bands Tu Howl and Kubot.
