Unlisted Reality was formed by chance when members Booker, J-Riss, and JG were all celebrating a friend’s birthday. Booker and J-Riss were lifelong friends who had already had several run-ins with the music industry and had hit several dead ends. So due to similar experiences they connected easily and their love for singing only drew them close. Booker is just a natural and the music bone seems to run in the family as his sister Toni Hill (Sirens Echo) is an established singer/song writer and his cousin Lucc (Kant B Caught) was part of a monumental group that inspired others in the Portland rap scene. J-Riss has always been part of something being in several groups in the nineties such as Deverse, Reality, and Unlisted which all helped hone his talents to where they are at today. JG was just the much needed added addition as a rapper who was just looking to find his niche in music the chance meeting seemed like a natural fit.
They all talked about their passion for singing and how much they wanted to make a change in Portland since it was heavily saturated from their standpoint. So after the initial idea of forming a group and a few practice sessions it was decided all three would join forces to become “Unlisted Reality”. With J-Riss & JG being the writers of the group and Booker blending the harmonies, the arrangements were classic, allowing them to express vocal stories about fun, pain, loss, and love. Their hard work eventually paid off with spins on the local hip-hop FM radio station 95.5 (now known as 107.5). Their song “One More Try” was played for several weeks on the stations “Slow Jams & Dedications” show hosted by Kristina (now with Z-100). With some early success the group never took it for granted and with their talent, passion, love of R&B music eventually garnered the release of the debut album “Finally: Episode 1” which was released in 2008.
The group feels in good company as they are compared to legendary groups like New Edition, Boyz II Men, and the Temptations which they have all looked up to. After such a good experience with the first project the group continued to work and dropped a sophomore follow-up entitled “More Than Just Words”. The second project showed growth and their journey to this point which included several ups and downs but together they persevered through it all and vow to stay true to the meaning of their name. The second project was also more close knit to the city of Portland as they showed love and appreciate to the local scene by featuring a lot of the local talent within the city. Both albums are available for purchase on all digital retailers and physical copies are available via cdbaby.com
