Black Wizard are a Canadian stoner doom metal quartet from Vancouver, British Columbia.
Formed in 2009 by high school friends Kyle Fee (bass), Eugene Parkomenko (drums), vocalists/guitarists Adam Grant and Johnny de Courcy. While influences include Black Sabbath, Sleep, and Witch, one can also hear traces of Neil Young with Crazy Horse, Dinosaur Jr., and a hint of glam in their sound.

They recorded their self-titled, self-released debut in 2010 with engineer Michael Kraushaar, followed by the single "Mountain Bitch"/"Jesus" in 2011. That same year, guitarist Kenny Cook (aka "Stokes," who is also a member of Anciients) replaced de Courcy, leaving Grant as the only vocalist.

In 2013, Black Wizard issued a sophomore full-length titled Young Wisdom (also recorded by Kraushaar). After a stretch of hard touring, Fee tired of the road and left the band. He was replaced by Evan Joel.

This solidified lineup issued the "Eliminator" single in 2014 and the infamous Live at Bully's full-length a year later. The quartet signed to the international Listenable Records in 2015, and issued its fourth album, New Waste, in early 2016. It was their first widely distributed offering and was followed by a tour of North America. ~ Thom Jurek
