Roger Apodaca, the Albuquerque, NM-based bassist for GoMotorCar, had written several songs for the group's next album when the band broke up.
Apodaca continued working on those songs and wrote some more, then began recording with guest musicians, and the result was At Dawn, released by Socyermom Records on November 11, 2005, under the group name Black Tie. Apodaca spent most of 2006 and the early part of 2007 working on a follow-up with such associates as producer Ryan Martino (from Of God and Science, as well as Bellyachers), Ryan Anthony (of Jason and the Argonauts), Sean McCullough (of Oktober People and Lowlights), Johnny Cassidy (of Venus Diablo and formerly of GoMotorCar), Justin Ray (of Michael Bublé's band), Eric Reynolds and Paul Newcomb (both of Los Brownspots), and Audrey Lee. That album, Goodbye, Farewell, was released on December 4, 2007. ~ William Ruhlmann
