Influenced by early-'80s synth pop, cold and darkwave, and the mighty bass playing of New Order's Peter Hook, Black Marble formed as an outlet for the musical ideas of Chris Stewart.
Teaming with ex-Team Robespierre member Ty Kube, the Brooklyn duo recorded a five-song EP, Weight Against the Door, for the Seattle label Hardly Art in 2012. They followed it up the same year with their debut album, the moody and darkly melodic A Different Arrangement. It proved to be the only album the duo produced together, as after a period of mental and physical transition, Kube left and Stewart moved to the West Coast to start over. The long break ended with the release of It's Immaterial in late 2016. The album was released by Ghostly International and featured Stewart writing and recording the entire thing himself. ~ Tim Sendra
