First Break: Arranged and Produced a remake of Brooke Benton's classic “So Many Ways”, performed by Dennis Malcolm, which went to the number one position in Jamaica, England and New York.
Touring as a Bassist & Musical Director:After relocating to Kingston, Jamaica, Benjy became a member of the Rhythm Kings Band, touring with several artistes including Jimmy Cliff, Culture, Toots and the Maytals, Shinehead and J.C. Lodge. His other credits include appearing as a bassist for the chorale, Sounds of Blackness and also, singing, writing and arranging music. The nineties afforded him the opportunity to produce several projects with ace producer, Bobby Digital, including tracks on Sizzla’s album, The Real Thing and Capleton’s Reign of Fire among others, write, arrange and collaborate with top Reggae/Pop/Gospel/Folk/Urban recording artists such as Third World, and Jazz Pianist Onaje Allan Gumbs.
As a solo act, he performed alongside international artists Gladys Knight, Angie Stone, Kevon Edmonds, and shared his artistic talents as his contribution to Jamaican World Food Day.
First Single Love You Higher still receives massive airplay and has become a classic in the annals of reggae music.
Internationally, Benjy tours USA, Japan The Caribbean, and has been a featured performer at Midem the premier international music conference in Cannes France; and appeared as bassist and musical director at Anguilla's annual Moonsplash, benjy also received a Nomination Medal & Certificate from the Grammy Committee for being a part of Toots and the Maytals Grammy-nominated album.
To date, Benjy has released three albums. His 1997 Debut Album "Intimate Relationship" & "Time Together" (VP Records-2000 & 24/7 Recored -Japan-1998 ) and " Long Story Short"- 2005 and the recent release is a self-produced instrumental album entitled "You’ve Got Me" -2009 featuring his Bass guitar as the lead instrument.
Benjy has teamed up with his US Los Angeles based management company Monarchy to address social issues under the operation GoodWays banner. This project includes raising awareness of autism and raising the consciousness for Caribbean Diaspora unity.
Partnerships are being forged with communities across the world with an initial penetration in the Caribbean and African communities.
