Beckah Shae bridges the pop, contemporary Christian, and praise & worship genres in her recorded work, adding positive, uplifting, and spiritual lyrics to 21st century commercial pop rhythms, beats, and arrangements.
After her parents divorced when she was an infant, her mother endured several abusive marriages, setting in motion for Shae a young-adult life of depression, eating disorders, low self-esteem, and frequent moves which found her staying in cars, hotels, women’s shelters, and foster homes. Shae struggled, but always stuck with her passion for singing, and shortly after she graduated from high school, she was spotted by a talent scout. Soon, Shae found herself recording a song demo in Los Angeles and the future looked bright, but in the end, nothing came of it. In her early twenties, Shae also spent time living in Las Vegas before moving to Nashville.

There she met Jack “Shoc” Shocklee, a rising young producer who had done work with several Christian artists, including Lil’ iRocc Williams, Group 1 Crew, and tobyMac. The pair soon began working on Shae's music and songwriting. The work partnership deepened, and the pair married in August of 2004. Forming their own independent label, Shae Shoc Records, and with Shocklee producing, they released four albums, Butterfly (2006), Joy (2008), Emmanuel (2010), and Life (2010), each of which featured Shae's positive and hopeful songs set to club beats with crafty pop touches and arrangements.A fifth album, Destiny, was released in 2011. ~ Steve Leggett
